BOL, Croatia (AP) _ Third-seeded Vera Zvonareva won her first career title Sunday, defeating Conchita Martinez Granados 6-1, 6-3 at the Croatian Bol Ladies Open.

The 18-year-old Russian, who is ranked 28th, dominated the match throughout, holding her opponent at bay with precise baseline shots and solid serves.

``I didn't expect anything at the beginning of the tournament and kept telling myself I should just try and play my best tennis and show what I can do,'' Zvonareva said.

Martinez, an 88th-ranked Spaniard in her first final, sought medical attention for a sore shoulder at the end of the first set.
