Germany’s Computer 2000 Acquiring Majority of AmeriQuest Technologies
MUNICH, Germany (AP) _ Germany’s Computer 2000 AG plans to acquire a 62 percent stake in AmeriQuest Technologies Inc. for about $50 million, the company said Tuesday.
Computer 2000, a computer distribution company, will acquire a 51 percent in August and rest at a later date, under the plan announced Tuesday.
The deal marks Computer 2000′s entrance into the U.S. computer distribution market. The company already operates outlets throughout western Europe.
After it acquires the majority stake, Computer 2000 will assume the management of AmeriQuest and gain majority representation on its board.
Computer 2000 board member Steve DeWindt will become chairman of the board and chief executive officer of AmeriQuest, the company said.
Computer 2000 is 51 percent owned by Kloeckner-and-Co., a subsidiary of Viag AG of Germany.
