Woman alleges Chicago police raided her home by mistake
CHICAGO (AP) — A woman is alleging in a federal lawsuit that what she says was a mistaken raid by of her home by Chicago police has left her children with psychological and emotional problems.
The Chicago Tribune reports that Ebony Tate says the August raid that included SWAT team members setting off flash grenades outside her home on the city’s South Side also triggered her own panic attack.
The lawsuit alleges that police “terrorized” Tate’s family that includes four children between the ages of 4 and 13. Chicago Law Department spokesman Bill McCaffrey told the paper that he hadn’t seen the lawsuit and declined to comment and a police spokesman tells The Associated Press that the department does not comment on pending litigation.
