Alleged drunken driver hit pedestrian on Near West Side, Madison police say

A Madison man was arrested for alleged drunken driving early Sunday morning after hitting a pedestrian on the city’s Near West Side.

Edward Lewis, 60, was ticketed for causing injury by operating while intoxicated.

The victim, a 19-year-old Madison woman, suffered a skull fracture and a broken leg and was taken to a local hospital, Madison police said.

The crash happened at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday while the pedestrian was crossing Regent Street at North Orchard Street.
