OLBH’s Jennifer Brewer earns the DAISY Award
ASHLAND — Bon Secours and Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) have awarded Jennifer Brewer, BSN, RN, with the DAISY Award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. DAISY is an acronym for Diseases Attacking the Immune System. As a DAISY Award partner, Bon Secours Kentucky Health System regularly recognizes one of its nurses with this special honor. DAISY Award honorees consistently demonstrate excellence through their clinical expertise and extraordinary compassionate care. They are recognized as outstanding role models in the nursing community.
Brewer began her OLBH career in 2010. She serves as a nurse on the hospital’s second floor oncology and stroke unit. Brewer received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marshall University and is certified by the Oncology Nursing Society. Brewer resides in Ashland.
The DAISY Award originated from The DAISY Foundation. The foundation was formed in November 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes who died at age 33 of complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura. The Foundation, in Barnes’ memory, was established to express gratitude to nurses for the work they do for patients and their families every day.
