Gunmen Shoot 2 Kenyan Legislators
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) _ Gunmen shot and seriously wounded two members of parliament traveling in a car, a television report said Monday.
The attack apparently took place on Sunday, when gunmen opened fire on a vehicle carrying Sammy Leshore, chief whip for the ruling Kenya Africa National Union party and Mohammed Shidiye of the same party, the independent Kenya Television Network reported.
Both legislators were hospitalized for treatment of gunshot wounds and Shidiye remained in intensive care, said hospital spokeswoman Connie Maina. She had no further details about their injuries.
Police could not immediately be reached for comment and no details were available regarding a motive for the attack or the identities of the assailants.
