Stefano defeats Gerard for 32nd State Senate seat

Pat Stefano defeated Pam Gerard in Pennsylvania’s 32nd Senate District race, receiving 66 percent of the vote compared to 34 percent of the vote Tuesday evening, with all but one of precincts reporting.

The district includes all of Fayette and Somerset counties and part of Westmoreland County, including East Huntingdon, Monessen, Mt. Pleasant, North Belle Vernon, Rostraver and Scottdale.

Stefano led the balloting in all three counties, with a lead of 77 percent to 23 percent in Somerset, 58 percent to 42 percent in Westmoreland and 61 percent to 39 percent in Fayette.

Stefano, 52, is a first-term Republican incumbent from Connellsville who owns a printing company.

Gerard, 62, a Democrat from Uniontown, is a substitute teacher and part owner of a pub with her husband.
