PHILADELPHIA (AP) _ Audrey Codner scored a career-high 29 points, including four in the final minute, to lead St. Joseph’s to a 69-61 victory over eighth-ranked George Washington in an Atlantic 10 game Tuesday.
George Washington (15-3, 5-2) closed to 65-61 on Jennifer Shasky’s 3- pointer with 1:14 left to play. But Codner connected on four straight free throws.
St. Joseph’s (11-8, 6-3) led 34-27 at the half and opened the second quarter with a 9-4 run for a 12-point lead.
The Colonials closed within 49-47 with 6:30 to play by scoring eight unanswered points over a two-minute stretch. But the Hawks came back with a 12-4 run, including five points by Codner, to take a 61-51 lead.
Robyne Bostick added 11 points for St. Joseph’s. Shasky and Mary Nordling led George Washington with 16 points each and Kristin McArdle had 12.
