DHAKA, Bangladesh (AP) _ Islamic fundamentalist students fought a gun battle with their secular classmates in a dispute about television, killing two students at a campus in northeastern Bangladesh, police said today.

Another 30 students were injured during Sunday's clashes at Osmani Memorial Medical College in Sylhet, 120 miles northeast of Dhaka.

The fighting started after a group of Islamic students stopped workers from installing a dish antenna at a college dormitory. Foreign television programs are very popular in Bangladesh, but are deemed anti-Islamic by some Muslim fundamentalists due to their secular subject matter.

Authorities shut down the college indefinitely following the four-hour battle among students who used revolvers and sawed-off rifles, Sylhet police said in a telephone interview.
