CS Northridge 77, Cal St.-Fullerton 76

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Ruben Oronoz scored 19 points, including the winning free throw with 19 seconds remaining, to lift Cal State Northridge to a 77-76 victory over Cal State-Fullerton on Saturday night.

The Matadors (1-2) trailed by 14 three times in the second half before tying the game 76-all on a free throw by Trenton Cross with 25 seconds to play. Cross made the front end of a 1-and-1.

Chuck Overton fouled Oronoz, who made the front end to give Northridge a 77-76 lead. Fullerton’s Chris Dade had a shot blocked by Matt Andrews to end the game.

Ali Nayab led five Fullerton players in double figures with 15 points before fouling out. Overton, who also fouled out, added 13 for the Titans (0-2).

Northridge led 74-72 when Brian Thomas tied the game with a jumper. Mark Richardson hit a jumper to give Fullerton a 76-75 advantage with 1:03 remaining before Overton fouled Oronoz to set up the winning free throw.
