Rockies’ Hampton to Miss Start

DENVER (AP) _ Colorado Rockies left-hander Mike Hampton will miss his scheduled start Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds because of a sore neck.

``There is nothing new,″ Colorado manager Buddy Bell said. ``He’s been getting treatment and we feel we need to give him some more time.

Hampton his last start against the Chicago Cubs on April 24 after five innings after allowing three hits and a run before complaining of soreness in his neck.

Hampton, who signed an eight-year, $121 million deal this past offseason, is 3-0 with a 2.97 ERA in five starts.

Right-hander Shawn Chacon was going to be called up from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Sunday to replace Hampton. Chacon was 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in four starts for Colorado Springs.

``We’ll bring him up Sunday morning and make a roster decision then,″ Bell said.
