Governor helps promote New Mexico on West Coast trip
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham is visiting the West Coast this week with a group of New Mexico boosters.
The Democratic governor and chief of staff John Bingaman left the state Sunday for San Diego with the New Mexico Amigos. She is expected to return from Seattle on Thursday, her office said.
Founded to promote economic development in the state, New Mexico Amigos has for years flown business leaders and public officials across the U.S., Canada and Mexico to promote the Land of Enchantment.
According to its website, New Mexico Amigos’ board includes executives from the oil, finance, insurance and trucking industries, among others.
The group is paying for the governor’s travel.
Lt. Gov. Howie Morales is serving as acting governor while Lujan Grisham is out of the state.
