MEDIA IDENTIFICATION BILL

A legislative committee discussed a bill to require media organizations owned by out-of-state companies to prominently identify the location of their headquarters in their publications and/or online. By Amy Beth Hanson.

CARROLL COLLEGE CUTS _ Carroll College plans to eliminate five majors and create a new school of professional and graduate studies as the Catholic school deals with declining enrollment.

MONTANA WEATHER _ A winter storm is dumping snow across much of Montana, forcing some school closures and creating severe driving conditions. A swath of western Montana from Missoula through the Bitterroot Valley is under a blizzard warning through Monday evening, with an inch or two (2 ½ to 5 centimeters) of snow expected to fall each hour.

PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE-MISSOULA _ Officials expect construction to begin next week on a new pedestrian bridge to Missoula-owned conservation lands on an island in the Clark Fork River. The Missoulian reports the project that includes upgrading an existing bridge and extending a trail is part of an effort to reduce illegal drug use and homeless camps on West Broadway Island.

SMALL PLANE-HOME _ Authorities say a flight instructor was killed when his small plane lost power and crashed into a Florida home. James Wagner was in the twin-engine plane with pilot in training, 33-year-old Timothy Sheehy of Montana, when the plane crashed into a home near Winter Haven Regional Airport on Saturday.
