NWS: Flash flood watch in effect until Saturday morning
BRIDGEPORT — A flash flood watch is in effect through Saturday morning, the National Weather Service announced Friday afternoon.
“Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation,” the NWS said. “You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued.”
The watch is for portions of southern Connecticut, New Jersey and southeast New York. In Connecticut, Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex and New London are most likely to experience flooding, the NWS said.
Rain showers and thunderstorms moving across the area will begin Friday afternoon through Saturday morning, with possibly heavy downpours locally.
“This will result in a threat for flash flooding through Saturday morning across the region,” the NWS said.
Areas that have already seen substantial rain in the last few days will be more vulnerable to flash flooding this time around.
