Woman charged with impersonating younger sister in Stamford traffic stop

July 12, 2018

STAMFORD-A city woman was arrested for allegedly pretending to be her younger sister while receiving a ticket during a traffic stop in March.

Sgt. Sean Boeger said Mellisa Gomez, 34, was charged with interfering with police, criminal impersonation, driving while under suspension and failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Boeger said that Gomez was pulled over for running a red light and told police she had no identification and proceeded to give the officer her younger sister’s information and was issued the ticket for running a light.

Gomez’s sister came down to police headquarters in mid-June to ask why she received a letter from the state telling her she was being prosecuted for the traffic violation in Stamford. Boeger said investigators obtained a warrant for her Gomez’s arrest and she was picked up Thursday and posted a court appearance bond and was released.
