Coming to The Met This Summer: Goofy
NEW YORK (AP) _ The Metropolitan Opera House, home to world-renowned opera stars, will welcome a new performer this summer: Goofy.
″Disney’s Symphonic Fantasy″ is booked for a run July 6-18, the Met announced Wednesday.
The show, part of an eight-week tour that begins June 18 in Los Angeles, will feature 18 dancers, a 32-member chorus and more than 200 characters, including Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy.
The ensemble will perform songs from such Disney movies as ″Mary Poppins,″ ″Snow White,″ ″The Little Mermaid″ and ″Aladdin,″ all played by the American Symphony Orchestra.
″This is something brand-new for us,″ said Met spokesman Kevin McAnarney. ″We consider it a big attraction.″
