Cashman Home Runs Power UML
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Junior Courtney Cashman tied a program record with two home runs, while redshirt-junior Casey Harding added a solo shot of her own to help propel the UMass Lowell softball team to a 6-4 victory against Northern Kentucky at Santa Clara University on Tuesday.
UML is now 7-8.
“Today we had a great day at the plate and it was a good team win,” said head coach Danielle Henderson.
Cashman finished 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored for UML, while Harding went 3-for-4.
Freshman pitcher Kaylie See notched her first-career win with two strikeouts, and senior Kaysee Talcik earned the final two outs to record the save.
RADFORD, Va. -- Behind strong performances from a pair of freshmen, the UMass Lowell baseball held off Radford for its first comeback victory of 2019 with a 7-6 decision on Tuesday evening.
Andrew Rdoen picked up three hits and drove in one, while Joshua Becker (Burlington) earned his first career victory with four innings of relief, striking out four and allowing two runs.
“It was a great team win,” said head coach Ken Harring. “Henry (Funaro) was under the weather and gave us what he could for three innings. Becker was very good over the final four innings to earn his first win, it was a feel-good moment for the walkon who has been our best bullpen arm.”
Our offense was very good top to bottom with a ton of quality at bats, as well.”
For the third consecutive contest UMass Lowell broke onto the scoreboard first, as Steven Passatempo (Medford, Mass.) sent his third home run of the season over the fence in right.
