5 shot from car outside Philadelphia store; 1 critical

October 3, 2018

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police say five men were shot from a car outside a north Philadelphia shopping area, and one was critically injured.

Officials say shots were fired shortly after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday outside the Dollar General store in Freedom Square in the Germantown section of the city.

A 20-year-old man struck in the head was critically injured, while the other victims — who range in age from 19 to 23 — were listed in stable condition.

No arrests were immediately announced.

The police commissioner said it appears the shooter or shooters were targeting the five individuals, and the attack wasn’t random.

Commissioner Richard Ross said “I can assure you it’s about something stupid, just like most things are.”
