One dead, one injured in Thursday car collision near Osceola
A car accident occurred on Thursday east of Osceola, leaving one dead and another injured, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
James Gabel was driving a 2001 Chevrolet S-10 pickup northward on R Road when around 7:20 p.m. on Nov. 1 when it collided with a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Tyler Wildasin, who was traveling westbound on 130th Road.
The S-10 pickup rolled onto its side in the north ditch while the Tahoe left the roadway and came to rest in a harvested corn field, according to Polk County Sheriff Dwaine Ladwig in a press release shared with The Telegram early Wednesday.
Gable was pronounced dead at the scene and Wildasin was transported by ambulance to Annie Jeffrey Hospital and later airlifted to another medical facility.
