Dennis hired as MCC Middle School principal
SCOTTVILLE — Mason County Central Middle School has found a new principal for the 2018-19 academic year in Rob Dennis.
Dennis is currently the principal at Baldwin Elementary School, where he will stay until Thursday.
He was appointed to the position at Monday’s board of education meeting with the recommendation of MCC Superintendent Jeff Mount and a hiring committee consisting of district administrators and staff members.
The board voted unanimously to hire Dennis to fill the principal position vacated by John Russell, who requested a re-assignment to a secondary math teaching position at the end of the 2017-18 school year.
Dennis distinguished himself among the 26 candidates in contention for the position, according to Mount, who said the hiring committee consisted of eight members of the Mason County Central Middle School staff.
“He rose to the top of the candidates, … and we emphatically recommend him for the middle school principal job,” Mount said.
