GLENHAYES — Tolsia High School hosted and won their first ever Invitational Cross Country Track tournament Wednesday night against Chapmanville Regional.

Despite having tremendous teams throughout the year, the Rebels have never had to opportunity to host their own invitational tournament.

Wednesday night ended the drought in winning fashion.

Shawna Lockard brought home the first place finish in the girl’s 5K run followed by Chapmanville Regional’s Peyton Stamper in a close second.

Paskell Doss kept the momentum rolling in the boys division with a first place finish in the 3K race. Larry Vankovich placed second for the Tigers.

“The Chapmanville squad has a group of kids with outstanding attitudes. Their team is very young. They are going to be hard to beat at many races,” Cross Country Coach Noah Copley said.

Overall, on time, Tolsia outpaced Chapmanville’s team by 52 seconds.

“We had fun. We’re hoping to draw more southern teams to this event next year,” Copley said.
