Man faces multiple weapons charges, felonious assault

IRONTON - The following information was compiled from Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office reports:

FELONIOUS ASSAULT: Responding to a call Saturday about a man with a gun, sheriff’s deputies arrested Christopher M. Adkins, 34, of County Road 411, Proctorville, on charges of felonious assault, receiving stolen property, having weapons while under disability (being a felon in possession of a firearm) improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

A victim told authorities that Adkins pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger, but that the handgun didn’t fire. The victim said he attempted to leave, but Adkins rammed his vehicle in an attempt to drive him off the road. Authorities recovered a weapon that had been reported stolen. Adkins was transported to St. Mary’s Ironton before being taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

DRUG ARREST: Following a traffic stop Sunday, a sheriff’s deputy arrested Rachel Lee Ballengee, 36, of Lower Union Street, Huntington, on charges of trafficking in cocaine and possession of criminal tools and transported her to jail.

DRUG ARREST: Following a traffic stop Saturday, a sheriff’s deputy arrested Lisa K. Keeney, 40, of Kentucky 5, Ashland, on a charge of possession of heroin and transported her to jail.

UNLAWFUL SEXUAL CONTACT WITH A MINOR: A 30-year-old Chesapeake area man reported last week that he had sex with a 15-year-old girl last year and sent obscene pictures to her.

THEFT: A representative of Par Electrical Construction Co. reported that someone stole two chainsaws and tools from vehicles in Rome Township. The items were valued at $2,701.

THEFT OF A FIREARM: A 53-year-old Ironton area man reported Sunday that someone stole a handgun valued at $375 from his home.

BREAKING AND ENTERING: A 66-year-old Ironton area woman reported last week that someone stole a lawn mower and a leaf blower from her shed. The items were valued at $740.

FORGERY: A South Point area woman reported last month that someone stole some of her checks and cashed them for $500 at Walmart.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: A 55-year-old Chesapeake area man reported last week that his former girlfriend threatened to kill him.
