Marshall places three in track and field prelims
HUNTINGTON — Marshall University continues its women’s track and field season with three athletes competing in the NCAA East Preliminary Championship meet that begins Thursday at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida.
Saffiyah Mitchell and Ashonti Warner received automatic bids for posting times among the top 48 for the NCAA East.
Mitchell ran a 13.45 time in the 100-meter hurdles at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational. The time is ranked as the 34th-fastest in the East division. Warner clocked a school record-setting 59.58 in the 400-meter hurdles of the Conference USA Outdoor Championships. The time is the 38th-fastest.
Christianna Dogan was just outside the top 48, but gained qualification in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.04 time in the C-USA meet. She is ranked 53rd in the East division.
Warner and Dogan will run Thursday while Mitchell will race Friday.
