NEW YORK (AP) — Howard Webb is replacing Peter Walton as general manager of the Professional Referee Organization, which manages on-field officials for leagues in the United States and Canada, including Major League Soccer.

Webb, who worked the World Cup and European Champions League finals in 2010, joined PRO last March and oversaw the implementation of Video Assistant Referees. Now 46, Webb was a Premier League referee from 2000-14 and a FIFA referee from 2005-14.

Walton will return to England and work for PRO as a consultant, the PRO said Thursday.
