Badger South girls swimming: Watertown wins 3 events in loss to MG
Watertown’s girls swim team lost to Monona Grove 109-61 in a Badger South dual meet at the Riverside Middle School pool on Tuesday.
The Goslings posted three first-place finishes to highlight the evening.
Junior Megan Woodward won the 50 freestyle in 26.13 seconds. Sophomore Katie Johnson won the 100 butterfly in 1:08.83. Freshman Hailey Mauel won the 500 freestyle in 6:14.74.
Second-place finishers included senior Georgia Bailey in the 100 butterfly (1:14.46), the 200 medley relay team of freshman Raigan Good, sophomore Shelby Webber, Johnson and Woodward in 2:06.07, the 200 freestyle relay team of Johnson, Webber, Bailey and Mauel in 1:57.10, and the 400 freestyle team of senior Samantha Rupprecht, senior Adri Hady, Bailey and Woodward in 4:21.10.
Finishing third for the Goslings were Rupprecht in the 200 individual medley (2:41), freshman Maura Prochaska in the 500 freestyle (6:34.98) and Woodward in the 100 backstroke (1:09.87).
Watertown’s junior varsity lost 98-32.
The Goslings travel to the Fort Atkinson invitational on Saturday. Racing starts at 10 a.m.
