HOUSTON (AP) _ Michi Atkins scored 15 points to lead eighth-ranked Texas Tech to a 64-62 victory over Houston Saturday night.

Pat Luckey of Houston and Atkins, the Southwest Conference's two leading scorers, combined to shoot just 4-of-20 over the first 20 minutes, and Tech led only 23-21 at intermission.

Melinda White added 12 points and 12 rebounds for the Lady Raiders (14-2, 4-0), while Julie Lake scored 12 points and Kim Sumrall 10.

Luckey led Houston (9-7, 2-2) with 18 points, while Rosheda Hopson added 15 points and 11 rebounds, Fleceia Comeaux had 12 points and Jennifer Jones 10.

Tech now has won nine in a row.

Tech improved its shooting in the second half, hitting 14 of 29 from the field and 11 of 14 free throws. Houston hit 17 of 40 from the field and 3 of 3 free throws after intermission.

Tech led by six points, but Comeaux's 3-pointer with 29 seconds to play cut the lead in half. The Lady Cougars had a chance to tie with another 3-pointer, but Shunta Hart missed with 10 seconds to go.

In the first half, Houston shot just 22 percent from the floor and Texas Tech 30 percent.
