Car Sails Off Overpass, Four Dead

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) _ Four of five people in a Pontiac Trans-Am were killed Thursday when their car sailed off a freeway overpass and crashed onto the highway below.

The car soared off the roadway at 2 a.m., traveled about 150 feet and landed on the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 north of downtown, police said.

All five were ejected from the vehicle.

Police were not immediately able to determine who was driving.

Two women and a man died at the scene, and a second man died later at University Medical Center, said police spokeswoman Michele Quattrin.

A fifth victim remained in critical condition Thursday, she said.
