Charter school to lose bus service because of unpaid bills

May 17, 2019

Horizon Christian Academy will lose bus service Monday because of unpaid bills, according to the charter school’s transportation provider.

Excursions Trailways of Fort Wayne in a news release this morning says the Fort Wayne charter school owes $20,000 for the “entire 2019 academic year.”

The statement says Anthony Beasley, school superintendent and chief executive officer, promised to pay by the end of March but has not. Subsequent attempts to contact him were unsuccessful, the statement says.

Phone calls this morning from the Journal Gazette to numbers associated with the school on its website initially went unanswered. A woman who answered the phone at one number said the school is still open but no one was there to take the call.

The school had been located at the former YWCA campus on North Wells Street until January when the campus was purchased by Wallen Baptist Church. Horizon Christian moved to Abundant Life Church, 3301 E. Coliseum Blvd.
