Bevens Nets Winner for Pelham
Abbey Bevens scored the game-winner with about nine minutes left on the clock to send the Pelham High field hockey team to a 2-1 win over Souhegan on Monday.
Pelham, in its first year at the Division 2 level in New Hampshire, improved to 4-0. Souhegan dropped to 3-1.
Souhegan scored 1:20 into the contest. Pelham tied it at 1-1 when Gwen Dahlinger scored, assisted by Bevens.
Abbie Patchen and Jessica Slaton also shined for the Pythons.
In a contest against a Central Mass. opponent, Tewksbury made a second-half rally only to fall short on the road.
Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Redmen received goals from Shelly Hinkle and Ryan Quinn to put a scare into the hosts.
Shawsheen Tech 99
Cam LeRoux was the medalist at Patriot Golf Course in Bedford with a 43 for Shawsheen (2-0).
Steve O’Connor carded a 44 and Connor Treble shot a 45 for the Rams.
Chelmsford won its season-opener at the friendly confines of Chelmsford CC.
Griffin Green, Jack Adamson, Ben Gastonguay, Tommy Hopkins, Thomas Slattery and Cole Lawlor won their individual matches. Green and Hopkins each carded a low round of 2-over 35. Senior John Clancy won his first varsity match.

Lowell Catholic captured 25-13, 25-20 and 25-23 wins, and only lost Game 3 25-22.
Maddie Franz had 10 aces, 10 kills, 8 digs and 3 blocks to lead the way for the Crusaders. Brenna Riley added 8 aces, 7 digs, 4 kills and 3 assists.
Elizabeth Cullen had 24 assists and 4 aces, while Molly Trainor chipped in 7 kills and 4 aces.
For Greater Lowell, playing well were Hailee Cruz, Lexi Cotto and Jessica MacFadgen.
Pelham was swept by scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-14.
Elise Hooper had 12 digs and 1 assist. Ally Altieri tallied 5 service points, and Renae Cerri had 2 blocks.
Despite a Game 2 hiccup, the Redmen soared at home to capture a non-league victory.
Scores were 25-20, 24-26, 25-17, 25-17.

Bishop Guertin cruised to wins of 25-7, 25-6 and 25-11 and improved to 3-0.
Paola Matos had 13 aces and 9 digs, and Julia Pascucci had 12 assists, 7 kills and 3 aces. Rita Dow (7 kills, 3 blocks) and Alica Glasheen (14 assists) also played well for BG.

The Crusaders picked up their first win of the young season and improved to 1-1.
Alex Graves netted a pair of goals, while Edoardo Di Carlo had a goal and an assist. Liam Fisher also scored.
Tristan Melo, Alberto Santel and Ryan Young each had an assist for the Crusaders.
