Is Greenwich becoming more racially diverse?
The headline to a story on ozy.com reads: Is the ‘Hedge Fund Capital of the World’ becoming .... Diverse?
The article by Nick Fouriezos used U.S. Census data and interviews with town residents to answer that question.
He found there are signs of change in Greenwich.
“At the Boxcar Cantina, they aren’t serving up generic American fare, but Northern New Mexican cuisine — a blend of Native American and Spanish influences often doused in red or green chiles, with a healthy dose of herbs and vegetables grown in the restaurant’s raised garden beds. At the turn of the millennium, a few years after the restaurant opened, nine-tenths of residents in Greenwich were White. But that’s changing, and quickly.”
Now, according to Census data, 26 percent of residents are black, Asian or Hispanic.
