Fighting Tigers secure OVC softball title

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Ironton clinched the Ohio Valley Conference softball championship with an 11-0 defeat of Ports-mouth. Keegan Moore pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 for the Fighting Tigers who are 20-1 overall and 12-0 in conference games.

Haylee Stevens went 3-for-3 with three RBI. Kylee Richendollar drive in three.

ROCK HILL 12, SOUTH POINT 5: Makenzie Hanshaw went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI to lead the Redwomen (13-5) past the Pointers in Pedro, Ohio. Rileigh Morris and Kylee Howard homered for Rock Hill. Holly Ramey hit a home run for South Point.

GALLIA ACADEMY 10, COAL GROVE 9: Abby Hammons was 3-for-4 with four RBI as the Blue Angels edged the Hornets in Centenary, Ohio. Alex Barnes, Chasity Adams and Bailey Meadows all were 2-for-4. Rylee Harmon went 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI for Coal Grove. Addi Dillow was 3-for-4.

SYMMES VALLEY 7, EASTERN-PIKE 2: Rachael Hayes went 2-for-3 with two RBI as the Vikings celebrated Senior Night with a triumph over the Eagles. Ericca Ross went 2-for-3 and Sarah Kingery drive in two.

WAHAMA 28, MILLER 4: The White Falcons (24-1) won their 20th in a row, beating the Falcons in Hemlock, Ohio. Hannah Billups was 5-for-5 with three RBI. Tanner King went 3-for-3 with four RBI.

ALEXANDER 7, RIVER VALLEY 1: The Spartans built a 7-0 lead in completing a season sweep of the Raiders.

MEIGS 15, NELSONVILLE-YORK 0: Breanna Zirkle struck out seven as the visiting Marauders shut out the Buckeyes. Jerrica Smith went 4-for-4.

Baseball

IRONTON 19, PORTSMOUTH 12: Ethan Duncan went 3-for-5 with four RBI as the visiting Tigers (9-11 overall, 6-6 OVC) beat the Trojans. Collin Freeman was 3-for-5 and Ryan Ashley 2-for-3 with three RBI. Cameron Deere and Jacob Sloan each went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Jack Workman drove in three for Portsmouth.

SOUTH POINT 4, ROCK HILL 3: The visiting Pointers (8-9h kept the Redmen (12-5) from moving into a first-place tie in the OVC. Drew Smith went 2-for-3 and drove in the winning run. Brody Blackwell was the winning pitcher and went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

MEIGS 11, NELSONVILLE-YORK 1: Wyatt Hoover went 2-for-3 with two RBI as the Marauders beat the home-standing Buckeyes.

POINT PLEASANT 6, NITRO 2: Miles Williams’ three hits and two RBI led the Big Blacks (17-6) over the visiting Wildcats. Kye-lar Morrow picked up the win.

WAHAMA 8, MILLER 3: Tanner Smith, Antonio Serevicz and Tyler Bumgarner drove in two runs apiece as the visiting White Falcons (20-4) beat the Falcons.
