Fatal shooting of dog ruled justified

October 22, 2017

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police say the fatal shooting of a dog in Manchester was justified and no charges will be filed.

WMUR-TV reports that a man was walking his dog Saturday when he saw two aggressive dogs loose ahead of him. Authorities say the dogs chased the man to his home and were undeterred even when a witness tried to block them by turning his car into their path. One of the dogs then attacked the man’s dog, and he and the witness were unable to get them apart. The man then shot the attacking dog with a pistol, killing it.

Police say the dog’s owner cooperated with the investigation. He said the dogs had gotten out and he was trying to find them when the incident occurred.
