BOSTON (AP) — Police in the Boston area are looking for a convicted robber who walked away from a pre-release, transitional housing center run by the state Department of Correction.

Prison officials say Gary Smith left the Brooke House in Boston on Sunday afternoon. Authorities say he was serving a three- to seven-year sentence for unarmed robbery.

Officials are asking for the public's help in finding Smith, but are urging people to not try to apprehend or approach him.

Authorities say Smith is a black man, about 5-feet-7-inches tall and 195 pounds. They say he has tattoos of Jesus on his upper right arm and cupid on his left arm.
