France calls Picamoles into Six Nations squad for England
PARIS (AP) — Toulouse No. 8 Louis Picamoles was called up Monday to France’s squad to replace the injured Wenceslas Lauret for the upcoming Six Nations match against England.
Picamoles, who last played for France in a defeat to Australia last June, missed the start of the tournament after picking up a thigh injury.
The 29-year-old player will be joined at France’s training camp in Marcoussis by Jocelino Suta, Remi Tales, Marc Andreu and Yannick Nyanga, who did not feature in the 29-0 win in Italy over the weekend.
France coach Philippe Saint-Andre also recalled Thomas Domingo later Monday after prop Eddy Ben Arous was ruled out with a triceps injury following further medical tests.
After back-to-back defeats to Wales and Ireland, France bounced back with the convincing win and has an outside chance of winning the tournament if it beats England on Saturday with a big margin while Wales and Ireland lose.
“We won’t be favorites, but we can win,” Saint-Andre said. “We are going there with a positive pressure on us. There is very little difference between the teams in this tournament.”
Jules Plisson, Camille Lopez and Eddy Ben Arous remain doubtful with injuries sustained against the Italians.
