CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) _ Wendy Palmer scored 20 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and had nine assists in 21 minutes Wednesday night as Virginia beat Cleveland State 120-53.

Virginia (2-1) took a 15-4 lead with 15:56 remaining in the first half after Palmer stole an inbounds pass for an easy layup. Cleveland State (0-1) never was in the game from that point, trailing by as many as 48 points in the first half.

The Cavaliers held a 65-27 rebounding advantage, shot 61 percent (54-of-88) from the floor and forced 32 turnovers.

Demya Walker had 18 points for Virginia, while Jeffra Gausephol added 16, and Monick Foote and Mimi McKinney each had 12.

Diana Boehnlein and Jami Brock each scored seven points for Cleveland State, which shot 28 percent (16-of-58) from the field.

The victory extends the Cavaliers homecourt winning streak to 57 games. Virginia’s first-half and final point total and victory margin were school records.
