Eagles win at McFarland; Norskies down Warriors

MCFARLAND — Junior James Monogue made three 3-pointers and all six of his free throws for the Jefferson Eagles as they earned a 64-61 victory over McFarland in a Rock Valley Conference prep boys basketball game on Tuesday night.

The Eagles (8-2, 6-2 RVC) made 24 of their 34 free throws to hold off McFarland (8-3, 5-3) after building a 34-28 lead at the half.

Cory Kaiser and Caleb Stelse each added 11 points for Jefferson. Stelse used his physicality attacking the basket to get to the free-throw line where he made nine of his 12 freebies. Kaiser made five baskets and missed both of his free-throw attempts.

Senior Daniel Toennies made five 3-pointers and scored 24 points for McFarland to lead all scorers.

Jefferson returns to action at home against Edgerton on Friday beginning at 7:15 p.m.

DEFOREST — Austin Westra was too much to handle for the Lakeside Lutheran Warriors.

The 6-foot-6 forward scored 29 points for DeForest as it picked up a 68-65 victory over Lakeside in a non-conference prep boys basketball game on Tuesday night.

Senior Will DeNoyer made all six of his free throws and three 3-pointers to lead Lakeside with 19 points. Seniors Jack Monis and Cam Paske each added 13 points apiece.

The Warriors continue their season at home against Poynette on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
