Highway shuttered when debris falls from New Jersey overpass
CLIFTON, N.J. (AP) — Concrete falling from an overpass forced officials to close a stretch of a major northern New Jersey highway for several hours.
Route 3 west in Clifton was reopened early Wednesday after an extended closure that started around 6 p.m. Tuesday and continued for about 12 hours.
Authorities say no injuries were reported and no cars were damaged by the debris. But the closure did cause travel delays in the area.
It’s not yet clear what caused the problem. The state Department of Transportation is investigating the issue.
