August 3, 2018

BULLHEAD CITY — Bullhead City Mayor Tom Brady will proclaim Tuesday as Purple Heart Day and make Bullhead a Purple Heart City.

Recipients of Purple Hearts are urged to wear their medals when they attend the 11 a.m. ceremony at VFW Post No. 10005, 1611 Marble Canyon Drive.

Recipients of these medals will be able to receive a free lunch. Those who have lost their medals can bring their DD214 as proof and still eat at no cost.

Members, veterans and guests are welcome to attend. Contact Ken Kruse for details at 928-758-7900 or KruseKh@frontier.net .

Purple Heart Day is an observance that commemorates the creation of the Purple Heart Medal in 1782. The purple heart medal is awarded to those who were wounded or killed while serving the U.S. military.

The holiday also encourages people to pay their respects to fallen soldiers, to listen to the stories of soldiers and veterans, and to thank them for their service to the nation.
