Monty Hall Honored in Canada

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ ``Let’s Make a Deal″ TV host Monty Hall is getting another Walk of Fame star _ this time in Canada.

Canada’s Walk of Fame will honor the 78-year-old Hall on May 28 in Toronto for entertainment and humanitarian accomplishments. Nominations come from the public, then the Walk of Fame’s board of directors choose inductees from the arts, entertainment and sports communities.

``I have been `walked over’ on both the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as the one in Palm Springs, Calif., for years. Now, my Canadian friends will be able to `step on me’ also, and I’ll love every footprint of the abuse,″ said Hall, who was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in a statement on Tuesday.

Other honorees include John Candy, Jim Carrey, Hume Cronyn, Michael J. Fox, Christopher Plummer, William Shatner, Martin Short, Donald Sutherland, Celine Dion, Anne Murray and Joni Mitchell.

Recipients were either born in Canada or spent their formative or creative years there, and have had a national or international impact on Canada’s cultural heritage.
