AUBURN, Ala. (AP) _ Danieletta Coleman scored 20 points and Lauretta Freeman grabbed 18 rebounds as No. 9 Auburn took a 20-point lead and held off Mississippi State 72-64 Saturday in women's basketball.

Freeman, who also had 14 points, made her first four shots and scored 10 of the Lady Tigers' first 19 points. Coleman scored seven straight points as Auburn (16-1, 5-1 Southeastern Conference) took its biggest lead at 36-16 with 6:42 left in the first half.

Mississippi State (10-8, 2-5) ended the half with a 15-4 run and closed within nine points at halftime. The Lady Bulldogs then held Auburn scoreless for the first four minutes of the second half and pulled to 40-37. Auburn pushed the margin back to 62-48 over the next eight minutes as Coleman scored 10 of her points.

Coleman also grabbed 12 rebounds, helping the Lady Tigers to a 54-40 rebounding advantage. Freeman, the nation's leading rebounder, had double figures in scoring and rebounding for the 16th time in 17 games. Kristen Mulligan added 11 points.

Charetta Robinson and LaCharlotte Smith led State with 14 points each. Natasha Johnson added 12 and Tiffany Booker 11.
