Greater Cleveland’s most decadent dessert is out there and we want you to tell us your favorite for new contest

CLEVELAND, Ohio – How many times have you wondered if that rich concoction is “worth the calories?” If your response was “Oh, yeah!” we want to know about it.

Cleveland’s Best reporters Brenda Cain and Yadi Rodriguez are on the hunt for the most decadent – even sinful – dessert served in Greater Cleveland for a new contest that will include reader votes.

Whether it is a dense, moist cake or an ice cream concoction smothered in fudge, let us know about your guilty pleasure, and where to find it.

It doesn’t matter if it is a five-star restaurant or the bakery down the street, the local ice cream emporium or a sweet bite from a candy shop. Tell us what your heart desires.

Now through Sunday, Oct. 7 at noon we’re accepting nominations for desserts served throughout our seven-county Greater Cleveland region. You can nominate your go-to dessert in the form below -- which is fast and easy to submit.

How Cleveland’s Best Sinful Dessert contest will work:

Send in your nominations between now and Sunday, Oct. 7 at noon. Remember to tell us what your favorite treat is and where you get it.

The dessert must be from a business located within the seven-county coverage area of Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Summit, Medina, Lorain and Portage counties. No national chains; all locations must be within Ohio.

An online poll in which readers will determine the 20 finalists will begin Oct. 11. Voting will run through Oct. 18 at 9 a.m.

After you have chosen the Top 20, Cleveland’s Best reporters will visit each establishment and taste test the 20 treats vying for Cleveland’s Best Sinful Dessert in late October and early November. We’ll also sample a few other concoctions the contestant whips up to feature more decadent delights.

You may come along on any, or all, of the 20 visits -- either by joining us in-person or by watching live video on cleveland.com’s Facebook page. We’ll publish the schedule of our 20 visits by Oct. 22.

New for this contest: Cleveland’s Best reporters will determine the winner from their taste tests, as well as the Top 10 and the Best of the Rest. We will announce the results in a surprise visit to the winning business on Facebook Live on Nov. 13.
