Dartmouth 61, Yale 59
HANOVER, N.H. (AP) _ Two free throws by James Blackwell and another by Alex Gayer in the last 18 seconds lifted Dartmouth to a 61-59 victory over Yale Friday night in the Ivy League.
Yale (9-10 overall, 3-4 Ivy) led 59-56 after Rob Connolly’s layup with 59 seconds to go.
Dartmouth (6-12, 1-6) cut it to one on Blackwell’s jumper with 36 seconds left.
A Yale turnover gave Dartmouth another chance, and Blackwell hit two free throws for a 60-59 lead with 18 seconds remaining. Blackwell stole the ball on Yale’s next possession, and Gayer provided some insurance with a free throw with 10 seconds left.
The Elis got one more chance, but Ed Petersen’s 2-point shot came after time had elapsed.
Blackwell led Dartmouth with 20 points. Dean Campbell led Yale with 15.
