ROME (AP) _ Police and fans clashed at three Italian minor league soccer matches Sunday, resulting in dozens of injuries.
At Varese, eight officers and 12 home team fans fans were hurt outside the stadium after Varese and Como played a 0-0 tie.
Police used tear gas to prevent rival fans from battling, and about 30 people were taken to police headquarters.
At Cosenza, fans threw rocks and other objects at police who blocked their path to the section holding visiting fans. Three officers were injured and one person was detained. The violence started after Cosenza’s 1-0 loss to Verona.
At Mantova, one fan required stitches and three fans were charged after scuffling inside and outside the stadium as Mantova and Viareggio tied 0-0.
