STORRS, Conn. (AP) _ Shea Ralph led seven players in double figures as top-ranked Connecticut routed Division I newcomer Quinnipiac 117-20 in women's basketball Sunday.

The 97-point victory margin was a school record, breaking the old mark of 80 set Nov. 26, 1994 in a 107-27 win over Morgan State. It was four points short of the widest margin for a game between two Division I teams, set Feb. 18, 1989 when Lousiana Tech defeated Texas-Pan Am 126-25.

The 20 points scored by Quinnipiac also was the fewest ever given up by a Connecticut team, topping a 74-22 effort against Loyola of Maryland on Jan. 6, 1995.

The Huskies (9-0) jumped to a 23-2 lead in the first eight minutes and never looked back.

A 3-pointer by Katie Caputi with 26 seconds left in the half provided a third of Quinnipiac's points before the break and gave UConn a 61-9 lead.

Ralph scored 18 points for UConn. Freshman Asjha Jones had 15 points and three others, sophomores Svetlana Abrosimova, Marci Glenney and Kelly Schumacher, all had 14.

Three players had four points each for Quinnipiac (2-8).

Earlier this season, the No. 1-ranked UConn men's team defeated Quinnipiac 102-60.
