Wells Fargo accepting non-perishable items during food drive
Four South Texas food banks have teamed up with Wells Fargo to collect non-perishable food this holiday season. Donations will be accepted at all of the bank’s Rio Grande Valley locations through Dec. 31.
Participants in the inaugural Wells Fargo Holiday Food Bank donated more than 270 pounds of non-perishable food last year, according to a new release, that was used to provide nearly 230 meals.
The items were donated to organizations affiliated with the hunger relief nonprofit Feeding America: Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas Food Bank, Coastal Bend Food Bank and El Pasoans Fighting Hunger.
Wells Fargo will match up to $1 million in customer donations to Feeding America. Customers will be able to make their donations at the bank’s ATMs across the country, its website and social media channels.
The bank is also gifting Feeding America $4 million to support hunger relief in its affiliates’ communities.
