Duquesne nonconference schedule includes Pitt, Penn State, Notre Dame
Duquesne’s 2018-19 nonconference men’s basketball schedule includes some big names and returning NCAA Tournament teams.
The 13-game schedule released Thursday includes the annual City Game against Pitt at PPG Paints Arena (Nov. 30) and a road game at Notre Dame (Nov. 20) as part of the Gotham Classic. Penn State will visit the PPG Paints Arena for a game Dec. 19, while Duquesne will host 2018 NCAA Tournament qualifiers Radford (Nov. 17) and Marshall (Dec. 5) at the Palumbo Center.
The Notre Dame game is the only one of Duquesne’s 13 nonconference games that will take place outside Pittsburgh, as the Dukes’ other 12 opponents will visit either Palumbo Center or PPG Paints Arena.
The season will begin Nov. 10 against William & Mary at Palumbo Center as part of the Gotham Classic, which also includes games against Illinois-Chicago (Nov. 12) and Radford before the trip to Notre Dame.
The rest of the nonconference schedule includes dates with UMass-Lowell, Longwood, Maryland Eastern Shore, Maine, Eastern Kentucky and NJIT before Atlantic 10 play begins in January.
Duquesne finished 16-16 overall and 7-11 in the Atlantic 10 in 2017-18, its first season under coach Keith Dambrot.
