Player of the week

Kendall Wiles, Johnson: senior, outfielder — Batted .778 with three home runs, a double, six RBIs and six runs as the Jaguars topped Madison and Churchill in District 27-6A action. She went 5 for 5 with three home runs, five RBIs and four runs vs. Madison.

Game balls

MacArthur’s Elizabeth Montes went 2-0 in the circle and has 23 strikeouts as the Brahmas defeated Reagan and LEE to remain tied for first in District 27-6A. She had 14 strikeouts in an eight-inning win vs. Reagan and struck out nine and allowed no hits in four innings vs. LEE.

Brennan’s Jadyn Abrego went 3 for 5 with a home run (grand slam) and four RBIs and was the winning pitcher as the Bears clipped No. 2 Holmes 8-7 in nine innings.

Judson’s Melissa Gonzalez was 4 for 7 with two doubles, a home run, three RBIs and three runs. She hit a tying three-run home run in the top of the seventh inning as the Rockets rallied from a 12-4 deficit in their final at-bats to beat No. 4 East Central 13-12.
