Ferry, commercial vessel collide near USVI
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) — The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating a collision between a passenger ferry and a commercial sailing vessel near the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Officials say the two collided near St. Thomas Wednesday night and that no major injuries were reported.
The Coast Guard said in a statement Thursday that the ferry was carrying 176 passengers and five crew members while the vessel was carrying 24 people and four crew members.
Officials said they did not detect any signs of pollution after the collision.
