Klondike Derby, powered by Boy Scouts
GREENWICH - Over 75 members of the Boy Scouts put their winter camping and outdoor skills to the test this past weekend at the Ernest Thompson Seton Scout Reservation in Greenwich.
Bonechilling temperatures and bright skies greeted the scouts on Saturday for the Klondike Derby, an annual winter competition.
Each competing patrol/crew built a Klondike sled that uses Scout power to pull it instead of dogs. Each team loaded their sled with their personal gear and patrol equipment for the day and pulled it through the course. Competition stations were named after famous Klondike Gold Rush towns in the Yukon.
