Mary Flynn The Center can help victims
To the editor,
In response to the continued national headlines reporting on the systemic sexual violence that plagues so many organizations, from CBS to USA Gymnastics to the Pennsylvania Diocese, The Center for Sexual Assault Crisis Counseling and Education (The Center), would like to make residents aware of the services we provide throughout Lower Fairfield County.
These national stories, in combination with the prominent #MeToo social media movement and the many revelations of sexual harassment and assault at the highest levels of many other industries, may leave survivors feeling vulnerable or anxious, and may prompt others who have yet to seek help to search it out. The Center can help. Our professional staff offer short-term crisis counseling and advocacy to all victims and survivors in Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport, and Wilton. Anyone can contact The Center directly at 203-348-9346. We also have a 24-hour crisis hotline: 203-329-2929/888-999-5545 for English; 888-568-8332 for Spanish.
Free, confidential, one-on-one counseling services are available to sexual violence victims, survivors and their families; anyone believing they have been victimized by another is encouraged to contact The Center for support. We believe you.
Founded in 1979, The Center’s mission is to provide counseling and support services to victims of sexual assault and to eliminate sexual violence through community-wide and school-based education programs. In the past year, our programs have reached more than 22,000 children and adults in Lower Fairfield County.
